Some Lebanon Bungalow Colony Memories from Mindy Littman Holland.

I found this nice story online from a woman who went to Lebanon Bungalow colony in the 1960's (aka Lebanon Country Club) which was very close to Sunny Croft in Highland Mills. http://www.mindylittmanholland.com/MLHdotcom/Blog/Entries/2015/4/2_Bungalow_Babe.htmlSee More

"Bring Back Bungalow Colonies" Martin Klienman's article from the Huffington Post

Martin Kleinman published an ode to Bungalow Colonies today in the Huffington Post.  Clearly he spent some time at one.  Definitely worth a read.  Here's the link:

Sunnycroft Bungalow Colony... Where it was.

You may not remember where it was, if.. like me, you were age 5 -11 when you spent summers at a Bungalow Colony but after some time spent spinning around the area I managed to find the location of Sunnycroft and map it on google earth. It can be seen on the regular google maps here as well: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=100228374135881533697.00044d81e5e6c7825366f

I was searching the web and punched in Sunnycroft Bungalow Colony and found this site. Manny, how old were you in the Summer of 1969? I was a Junior Counselor that Summer. My brother's name is Paul. He was twelve years old at the time. It's odd finding this site. Sunnycroft was a lot of great times getting out of Flushing for the Summer. Have you heard from other people?

Hi Manny,

Thanks for responding to my posting. It's true, we would not have crossed paths, having missed each other at Sunnycroft by quite a few years. Still, there's a certain intangible kinship between people who hold similar fond memories of a specific place.

Hey, I came across this comment thread on Facebook, between two guys who remember Sunnycroft. Perhaps you can connect with them as well:

I'll continue to visit your site from time to time, as one never knows who may pop up from out of the blue. We can't be the only Sunnycroft dreamers out there!

Take care until next time...

Hi Manny,

Yes I knew George well , he and my cousin Jill were girlfriend and boyfriend. I was in the main building, in a few different units over the years. George,Jill and I were the kings and queen of color war. I helped write most of the  team songs. There is a sunnycroft group on facebook too,, I would love to see that video when you get it posted.

Manny please please please with a cherry on top.. can you post part two of your video. I spoke with Sally Turner today.. she is Ivy and Lonnie's mom. I sent her a link to the first video. I do not know if you remember them but I am pretty sure George would and your mom.

Hello Manny,  I am not sure what possessed me to search for Sunnycroft the other day but it did bring back memories when I saw the names an comments. I was also surprised to see that my brother Artie had posted as I do not recall him mentioning it to me.  I was friends with Alan Honig and Alan Eisman and knew Gail.  I have been back to the property a couple of times over the years as we have family not too far away.  The last time I was there you could still see big sheets of plywood painted for color war lying around.   I saw the video on YouTube and that brought back quite a few memories like the Bagel/Donut van, pinball repair guy and trips to Three Bears ice cream.

Regards,  Paul

Do you know of anyone who remembers the Fialkoff's Bungalow Colony?  It was on a main road and when you got to it, on the corner was it's luncheonette, first thing, on left side of road when you entered colony.  I was a mother's helper for my cousin's children.  It was an incredible summer!

I don't recall you Manny. But I certainly know Alan Honig. I recognize many names here. It was so great to watch the video. I recognized my brother Bob in the video at about 2:23. He was 15 at the time. What memories! Color war was the best. And the moms in their one piece swimsuits and beehive hairdos. I have several camp photos I will scan and upload when I get some time.
