I was a Junior Counselor that Summer. My brother's name is Paul. He was twelve years old at the time. It's odd finding this site. Sunnycroft was a lot of great times getting out of Flushing for the Summer. Have you heard from other people?

Thanks for responding to my posting. It's true, we would not have crossed paths, having missed each other at Sunnycroft by quite a few years. Still, there's a certain intangible kinship between people who hold similar fond memories of a specific place.

Yes I knew George well , he and my cousin Jill were girlfriend and boyfriend. I was in the main building, in a few different units over the years. George,Jill and I were the kings and queen of color war. I helped write most of the team songs. There is a sunnycroft group on facebook too,, I would love to see that video when you get it posted.

I was also surprised to see that my brother Artie had posted as I do not recall him mentioning it to me. I was friends with Alan Honig and Alan Eisman and knew Gail. I have been back to the property a couple of times over the years as we have family not too far away. The last time I was there you could still see big sheets of plywood painted for color war lying around. I saw the video on YouTube and that brought back quite a few memories like the Bagel/Donut van, pinball repair guy and trips to Three Bears ice cream.

It was on a main road and when you got to it, on the corner was it's luncheonette, first thing, on left side of road when you entered colony. I was a mother's helper for my cousin's children. It was an incredible summer!

I recognized my brother Bob in the video at about 2:23. He was 15 at the time. What memories! Color war was the best. And the moms in their one piece swimsuits and beehive hairdos. Hope you and everyone on the sight enjoy the photos. Those were some good times and great memories and I could not let them go to waste in a keepsake box. Koop is 2nd in from right top row to his left is Robin. Next to her is Wick next to wick don't know her name but did have her brothers as campers there names were Chatam and Adam. Girl directly in front of her in 2nd row I believe her name is Elise and directly in front of her in 1st row is Aileen. after that nothing for now and last names forget about it clueless.

Then you would make the left at Tel Aviv heading towards I believe Lebanon. Before Lebanon there was another colony. cant remember its name but it was one of the first to go under. Remember going through the bungalows and climbing on the roofs with my friends. I Think it was 1972 or 73.

But when I used to come to work I'd would make a right at the Woodberry movie theatre . Remember that place? You were a little younger but I think anyone in the area saw Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory there.I Saw the God Farther there to. Then up the road I'd make a left towards Sunnycroft that colony was right before the left turn it was the beginning of the end, they all slowly started dying off after that.
