Yes! That's me in 3rd from right top row - sorry for the 2 year delay in responding!!! I can't believe how many names you remember. I have so many fantastic memories from Sunny Croft too, but only a few of the names. Does anyone know Eman's last name? Thanks again for posting all of these great photo's and info.
Sorry, Manny, it's been a long time for me now too but always fun to see these old photos. I just can't remember Eman's last name. I remember his older brother was Gabe. And, yes, Simone, we are just about the same age. I remember you. You might have been a year younger.
I would have been 11 that summer - that would have been my last one there too. Still can't believe you remembered all of those names!
I was surprised by a few of them, but keep in mind that I knew some of these friends until I went off to college. When Sunnycroft closed down most of my summer friends moved to Rosemarins. I attended day camp there and then became a CIT and Junior counselor and I would spend most evenings there as well in the teen program they had.
Doug the first time I saw this picture! I recognized all those faces. The summer of 75 was my second year there. It started off in the casino where we got our group assignments. Some of the kids were outside chanting we want Mike. Which actually felt pretty good. Alan "Wick" I believe was my junior counselor??? I got your age group! unfortunately, I didn't get you guys. You were the more athletic group. As far as remembering camper names, From your group it was just David Heinz "Ketchup". My group the brothers Chatam and Adam, and here's why.
I cannot remember what we were doing with your group. But we were down in the left-hand corner of the colony. David Heinz disappears, and we can't find him. He didn't give himself up. It was like did we just lose a camper? Finally, he starts singing the spaghetti O's song, and pops out of the green garbage can like a Jack in the Box. With Chatham & Adam, the camp took a trip to the orange county fair. That afternoon we got hit with a thunderstorm. I was hanging out with the other counselors and kids under this big tent. When the rain stopped, I thought I had all mine! I was wrong, the two of them snuck away for a little bit. Next day in the local paper, there's this Big picture with the headline "He's not heavy he's my Brother" Chatham was carrying Adam on his shoulder, walking through this Huge puddle. I caught a little bit of grief for that one. Good thing everyone liked the picture even their mother LOL.
Manny you also competed against Paradise Park. But like I said! my group wasn't that athletic. So I brought in an eleven-year-old ringer from Hillside to help us against them. My boys knew and liked him from a hike we took to Hillside. They wanted to check out my colony. Needless to say, it worked out well for Sunnycroft.
